Standard Pathway For GPsyC Registration
Practitioners with the General Psychotherapy Council (GPsyC) are required to have had extensive training, through which they have gained a thorough knowledge of appropriate psychotherapeutic practices. In order to become a registered GPsyC practitioner the General Psychotherapy Council requires information about applicants that demonstrates their suitability for registration.
As is set out in the application packs, the Standard Pathway route needs applicants to submit evidence of training (i.e. corroborated certificates and a 'signed statement of fact'), a 'supervisor's endorsement', and a 'signed declaration'.
Each application is carefully considered, and should queries arise, the applicant will be contacted to clarify matters or to resubmit/supply further documentation/evidence. Should an applicant not entirely meet the necessary standards for GPsyC registration, they will be informed of what further action would need to be taken.
Once an application has been approved, the practitioner will be informed and sent instructions for payment of the annual registration fee (£115). Information will also be requested for specific details to be inserted onto the public register and on the practitioner's GPsyC membership card. On receipt of the registration fees, the practitioner will be sent their General Psychotherapy Council's registration certificate and membership card.
